Details for Our First Friday Activities - This Friday 8/26!

This Friday, August 26, all middle school students will participate in First Friday activities instead of attending normal classes. Our goal for First Friday is to welcome new students and to build camaraderie in our Middle School among students and their teachers. Our theme for this year is "We Seek: looking inward, looking outward, looking upward."

Please note dismissal this Friday is at 2:15 p.m. (this is a change from what was previously announced). The Waynesboro bus will depart EMS at 2:30 p.m.

We'll begin Friday with fun morning activities on the EMS campus. Later, we will board buses and travel together to Westover Park in Harrisonburg, where students will eat lunch and participate in swimming and/or a variety of activities at the Recreation Center.

Here are some helpful reminders for the day:
  • Students should dress comfortably (athletic shorts are permitted; the dress code is more of a PE dress code, so PE length athletic shorts plus shoes and t-shirts).
  • If they would like to swim in the afternoon, students should bring along a towel and bathing suit (one piece and/or midriff covering suits for girls).
  • Students should also bring along a water bottle with their name on it and their lunches if they chose to pack.  A bagged school lunch is available to purchase - students can place their order for these in PE class.
First Friday happens rain or shine, though we may slightly modify activities depending on the weather. We extend our appreciation to Middle School teachers Kendal Bauman, Lee Good, Sue Swartz, and Susan Melendez for planning this great day for us!
As always, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You can contact me at yutzyr@emhs.net or by leaving a message at the Main Office phone: 236-6000.

We look forward to a fun and relaxing day for our Middle School as we wrap up the first week of the 2016-17 school year!
