| The Greek Awards Show |
Students in 7th grade have been studying Ancient Greece in the months of December and January. In social studies they have been learning all about the ancient Greeks, from their government to philosophy to religion, to Alexander the Great and the various cultural contributions of the Greeks. In English, students studied spelling and vocabulary words that come from the Greek language and have been rehearsing short plays relating to Greek drama, mythology and storytelling. Students also picked up snippets of Greek contributions in their math and science classes.
The culmination to their work was today's Greek Day Celebration that included an Awards Show focusing on the accomplishments and achievements of many influential and famous Greek people as well as presentations of the dramas.
We sincerely appreciate the work of all of our students, parent volunteers, and the 7th grade team of teachers (in particular Mrs. Hendricks and Mrs. Swartz) in making this day an engaging and enlightening way to learn about the influences of ancient Greeks, Greek history and culture.
